Cabo Hotels Aids 2012 Olympians
Pueblo Bonito together with the Los Cabos Hotels Association are pledging a total of $10,000 for the 2012 Olympic sailing challengers. The azure waters of the Sea of Cortes will come alive with excitement and activity as Los Cabos welcomes the Desafio 2012. On February 27, 2010, challengers will sail from Cancun, Quintana Roo to the port of Puerto Progreso, Yucatan and will travel for a total of 48 hours at a speed of 220 knots to beat the Guinness Record and qualify for the Summer Olympic games. This exciting event will be attended by the governmental authorities, tourist, international sailing aficionados and the world media. On Saturday, Tania Elias Calles will face the winds and waves of the Sea of Cortes in a laser sailing ships that are approximately 10 feet long. These athletes will attempt to break the Guinness Record by sailing for 48 straight hours until arriving in Bandera's Bay and qualify them for the 2012 Olympic Games. This very special event is part of the "Bicentennial Edition" of the Mexico Cup Regatta and the nationwide celebration in honor of Mexico's Bicentennial anniversary.
