For those who get to leave the cold and escape to our wonderful Los Cabos or Mazatlan destinations over the holiday season, here are 5 tips to avoid the airport wait. With new restrictions and controversial security demands on all passengers, the check-in process can take time, unless you're prepare. Here are some tricks from industry insiders I've put together to get you and others though the airport faster:
Always cut your wait time in half and use the online check-in. Airlines let you check-in and print your boarding pass 24 hours before you board.
Remember to wear easily removable shoes that you can slip on or off, avoid wearing a belt or necklaces, and choose jackets or sweaters that are easily removable.
A good piece of advice is to get a "checkpoint-friendly" laptop bag. If you don't have one, make sure your laptop is ready and out of its case.
For international flights, make sure you keep your passport and ID in an easy to reach location. Don't flip through papers in your luggage or dig through your purse, and please don't wait until you reach the front of the line to start emptying your pockets and take off your watch. Stash loose change, belt and other metal items into your carry-on or bag.
Charge your phone. There are a number of fantastic iPhone, Blackberry and Android apps that will help you navigate this season like Flight Wait, Sidestep, TSAwait, or TripCase, and definitely stock up on fun applications to pass the time. (While you're at it, I would also suggest checking out the AllAboutCabo app for iPhones.)

Hopefully these will help cut down on the travel wait time and give you more vacation time at one of our fabulous Cabo Resorts or Mazatlan Resorts! For the other 94% of travelers opting to take the freeway instead of the runway, make sure to drive safe.
