Los Cabos Art: Pueblo Bonito Sunset BeachPueblo Bonito Sunset Beach is a dazzling Los Cabos resort perched on the scenic hills of Cabo right off the ocean. The beauty of the resort is superbly accented by the natural beauty of the area, but the hotel itself is practically a work of art! Whenever I walk through the lobby and out to the terraces I am always awe struck. This hotel has one of my favorite lobbies. The style and architecture are stunning and conjure up images of Spanish castles and grand haciendas.
Architecture aside, some of the most amazing pieces of authentic art occupy this Cabo resort. As you enter into the grand lobby you are greeted by the statue of the Archangel Saint Micheal. This large statue was created using a traditional crafting technique dating back to the early sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Known as the "General of the Hosts of Angels," this statue was carved from oak and mahogany, then coated with gold and silver, and painted with extraordinary detail in bold natural colors.
One of the most impressive pieces is a gold leaf mahogany, alter-esque, 'retablo' with oil paintings. When you check-in, make sure to look at the details and wood carving reminiscent of seventeenth century Colonial Mexico. The center of this piece is a painting of the arch angel Raphael, a symbol of bodily health. Hovering over the central angel are smaller cherubs, symbolizing the fullness of creation. Throughout the Cabo hotel property, there are many fine pieces with rich artistic value and extraordinary craftsmanship. Though it's hard not to notice these spectacular pieces that have become signatures of the hotel's sophisticated taste and traditional roots, you need to make sure to take some time to view the beautiful details of these works of art.
