Today we received wonderful review, which I would like to share with you, here is the unedited feedback:
We are at the PBSB [Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach Resort & Spa] and just starting our second week here. We were on their AI Plan for the first week and now are doing our own thing. Overall we were pleased with our decision to try it out and most likely will do it again for one week of any future two week stay. We are not AI fans - we eat out often and enjoy dining rather than eating (do we sound like snobs?). What we discovered is the restaurants included in the plan cater mainly to paying customers, not AI folks wanting to gobble down anything and everything. As a result of this, patrons were treated as if they were paying customers expecting good food and good service and they got it. Food quality varied from good to very good to occasionally excellent and service was normally top notch. We had wine with every dinner and the servers constantly came by to fill up our glasses - we both drink cabs and enjoyed them - don't know about the whites. Breakfast for us was either the buffet at La Nao or a la carte at the Bistro. The variety and quality at the Bistro were top notch (loved the corned beef hash with poached eggs); however, the service though friendly was slow - don't go here if you are in a hurry - go for a relaxing breakfast with a beautiful view - they also make a great Bloody Mary. The Sunday Champagne Brunch at La Nao was excellent - I go for the sushi - lots of choices including an egg station plus a waffle/pancake station. The everyday buffet at La Nao was good, but lacking a little on choices - just a little (no smoked salmon). They missed out on their bread/pastry selections, i.e. no bagels, toast or English muffins on the buffet- I think you can order them from your waiter, but we didn't. All in all I'd rate it a strong B (pretty darn good for an AI). Lunch for us was always at the main pool and usually at one of the tables in the "dining" area. This gets an A+! Very good selection and excellent, FRIENDLY service. I loved the shrimp tacos, fish tacos, ceviche, burgers, salads- what more can I say? Oh yes, they kept asking us if we wanted another beer, water, etc. Dinner for us was spread out between a number of restaurant at three different PB resorts. Cilantro's at the Blanca was our choice for two dinners and we also a dined twice at La Nao and once each at Fellini's the Grill and the Bistro. Cilantro's is a lovely restaurant offering both indoor and outdoor seating (overlooking the beach). I had their Imperial Shrimp both nights. My wife had grilled sea bass one night and parrot fish the second time. We had the house red wine at both meals and found the experience pleasant. I'm now back home rereading my review and thinking back, I have nothing but praise for our stay and the choice of doing the AI for one of our two weeks.
