Emerald Bay Pops the Cork on its Silver Anniversary
Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay Resort & Spa, a stylish all-suite hotel set above a lovely crescent beach on the Pacific coast in the resort area of Nuevo Mazatlán, celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.
Nestled on 20 acres overlooking the ocean, Emerald Bay boasts its own private beach, lush tropical gardens dotted with koi ponds, a pair of oceanfront swimming pools with swim-up bars, and design inspired by old Mazatlán.
“The architecture of the buildings at Emerald Bay is a replica of the residences of old Mazatlán from the late 19th century,” said Armando Garcia, Operations Manager for Pueblo Bonito Resorts. “At Emerald Bay, architect Fernando Molins combined the best elements of Mazatlán’s tropical neoclassical architectural style while also creating aesthetic spaces full of harmony, including romantic gazebos and a poolside esplanade.”
The resort’s gardens, Garcia explained, are renowned for the beauty of their vegetation. Witness to countless weddings and other celebratory events over the past 25 years, these botanical enclaves are adorned with Greek and Roman-inspired statuary.
Each of the hotel’s 378 junior and master suites features a private terrace or balcony with panoramic beach and ocean views. Winding pathways lead from the hotel to the sea, where white swans, pink flamingos, and peacocks frequent the pools amid 150-year-old mangroves.
Guests can renew body, mind and spirit at the resort’s Armonia Spa, which offers restorative treatments including holistic massage therapies, spa rituals, and body treatments. Pampering beauty services are available, as are wellness and personal care classes.
Emerald Bay’s all-inclusive plans include breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Award-winning restaurants range from casual to gourmet. There’s Emerald Sushi (fresh sashimi, signature sushi rolls); The Bistro (24-hour family-style dining); Sunset Grill (poolside Mexican cuisine); and Emerald Grill (salads, sandwiches, snacks).
Emerald Bay is renowned for La Cordeliere, which offers French cuisine and themed buffets served in a casually elegant dining room or on a large, shaded terrace. La Cordeliere’s Sunday Brunch is outstanding.
The resort is convenient to numerous area attractions, including Gran Acuario Mazatlán, which showcases nearly 200 marine species found in the Sea of Cortez. With its enormous fish habitats and special exhibits (California sea lions, Humboldt penguins), it is the finest aquarium in Latin America.
A few things have remained the same since Emerald Bay’s debut in 2001: exceptional quality, superb amenities, and warm, personalized service, which combine to create memorable stays for guests this year as the resort pops the cork on its silver anniversary.
