Bajo un Mar de Estrellas: A Shining Night of Community Impact
On Thursday, May 8, 2025, the Letty Coppel Foundation brought together more than 300 distinguished guests for a memorable evening beneath a figurative sea. Hosted at the stunning Gran Acuario Mazatlán, the “Bajo un Mar de Estrellas” dinner show was more than just a night of entertainment; it was a heartfelt celebration of community, culture, and giving.
This landmark event marked a significant milestone in the foundation’s nearly two decades of philanthropic work for the communities in Mazatlán and Los Cabos. All proceeds from the evening will support the construction of a new Social Assistance Center in Mazatlán, an expanded and modernized facility that will replace the current center. With a projected investment of 20 million pesos, the new center is poised to expand the foundation’s reach within the community, enhancing its ability to serve vulnerable families in the region, offering free essential services, including therapy, physical rehabilitation, nutrition, and self-employment workshops.
Set against the aquarium’s main tank, guests enjoyed a thoughtfully curated three-course dinner and a program of culturally resonant performances. The evening began with a vibrant dance inspired by Mazatlán and its rich traditions, the city’s famed Carnival, and the important role the sea plays. Guests were then treated to an interactive show by illusionist Samed, who captivated the audience with mind-bending magic and playful crowd participation.
Adding to the excitement, a silent auction featured exclusive items generously donated by local businesses and hospitality partners. Prizes included luxury hotel stays, fine dining experiences at tony restaurants, spa treatments, and adventure-based local excursions. The auction of each helped to raise additional funds in support of the foundation’s greater mission.
The evening’s honored guests included the founder and guiding force behind the foundation, Mrs. Letty Coppel, along with Mr. Coppel, their daughter Hayley Coppel, and key figures such as Jose Luis Mogollón, the Pueblo Bonito directors, and numerous local leaders, business owners, and philanthropic supporters.
As guests dined and delighted in the setting, they were reminded of the power of collective action—and the profound impact the new Social Assistance Center will have on the lives of many local residents. This event reflects the Letty Coppel Foundation’s core mission: to elevate the quality of life in Mexico through thoughtful social programs, compassionate care, and strategic development.
