Flavors of Mexico: An Independence Day Celebration at LaFrida

Some celebrations deserve more than a seat at a table. This September, LaFrida at Pueblo Bonito Vantage San Miguel de Allende presents Flavors of Mexico, an Independence Day dining experience built around the country's food, music, and spirit, and designed to give guests a night they will be talking about long after they've left San Miguel.

The evening opens with candlelight, fresh Mexican flowers, and a welcome cocktail as guitar and vocal melodies drift through the room. At the center of the restaurant sits a striking installation crafted from flowers, native fruits, dried chiles, corn, cacao, and agave, a living still life that captures Mexico without a single cliché. It sets the tone for a dining room unlike any other, and it is only the beginning of what the evening has in store.

Chef Anaisa Guevara has designed a tasting menu that traces the country's culinary heritage with the polish LaFrida is known for. The evening opens with a nopalitos empanada finished in Oaxacan black mole, followed by fideos secos with short rib and a poblano chile cream soup layered with nixtamal and white corn. The menu's centerpiece, chile en nogada, arrives dressed in green, white, and red, a dish so tied to Mexican Independence Day that no celebration feels complete without it. Dessert closes things out with capirotada, toffee sauce, date ice cream, and banana, a beloved classic given new life. A digestif follows to send guests off in style.

Beyond the menu, Chef Anaisa has planned a few moments that will unfold over the course of the evening, the kind meant to be experienced rather than described in advance. Expect live music, a personal appearance from the chef herself, and at least one surprise that will have every phone in the room coming out. It is an evening built for connection, celebration, and a little bit of spectacle, all in the name of Mexico.

Flavors of Mexico takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on September 13, 15, and 16 at LaFrida Restaurant at Pueblo Bonito Vantage San Miguel de Allende. Choose the culinary experience for $1,300 MXN per person, including a welcome cocktail, tasting menu, and digestif, or elevate the evening with the wine pairing option for $1,950 MXN per person. Seats are limited for these once-a-year celebrations, so reserve your table now and join us at LaFrida for an evening that brings Mexico to the table in every sense of the word.
