Join Us at Pueblo Bonito for Day of the Dead Celebrations
Originated centuries ago by pre-Hispanic cultures, Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) venerates the departed in a jubilant way. For indigenous groups of Mesoamerican people, death was a natural phase in the circle of life. For them, the dead were still members of the community, kept alive in memory and spirit.
Present-day Day of the Dead celebrations are a mash-up of pre-Hispanic religious rites and Christian feasts. They take place on November 1 and 2—All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on the Christian calendar—around the time of the fall maize harvest. The theme may be death, but the festivities are characterized by life-affirming joy.
Pueblo Bonito will observe this magical holiday with themed ‘Memory & Tradition’ events at its resorts and hotels in Los Cabos, Mazatlan and San Miguel de Allende.
