Cabo San Lucas Surf Season

Every year during the summer season, surfers from around the world make the trek down to Cabo San Lucas. Surfers flock to this tropical paradise because it supplies amazing wave action in the summer and winter months. In the mid-summer season, Cabo mixes high temperatures with the storms in the Eastern Pacific to create ideal swells for the surfing community. If you don't mind high temperatures that peak in the month of July, this is the best time of year to go surfing in the Baja area.

Helpful Hint: Sports seasons don't always overlap with resort high seasons, which means fewer tourists and more money in your pocket.

For those of you who are not experts but want to learn in one of the the best locations in the world, there are beginners surfer classes at the Mike Doyle Surf School. Here, experts can direct you straight up to the break in an area located just off Kilometer 29 on Highway 1. Or for a slightly different surf experience, world-class windsurfing is located on the East Cape, north of San Jose del Cabo and is perfect for adventurous individuals. Short boards are sufficient for most of the surfing in Cabo and surfing supplies and equipment can be found in small surf shops through out Cabo San Lucas and San Jose Del Cabo. You can also bring your board down if you choose to check your surf equipment with the airlines and bring it to our Cabo hotels. Even if you don't surf and just want enjoy the adventure of the off season, you can fish for marlin and tuna, play at one of six nearby golf courses, or strap on a snorkel mask for a look at the underwater life.
