Mazatlán Cultural Festival and Mazatlán Carnaval 2009

The Mazatlán Cultural Festival runs from October - December and is a celebration of the unique and beautiful Mazatlán culture. Events are held throughout the city, including theater, classical music and jazz concerts, art exhibitions, ballet, contemporary dance and musicals. The Angela Peralta Theater is a main hub for performances and it is booked solid with live entertainment throughout the entire festival. The Mazatlan Carnaval is an annual celebration filled with food, music, dancing, parties, parades and even a Carnaval Queen. This festival has been celebrated as far back as 1898 and is rich with Mazatlán culture. A pre-Lenten festival, Mazatlán's large celebration is ranked third-largest in the world after Rio de Janeiro and New Orleans. This years carnival, Mazatlán Carnaval 2009, will be held from February 19 - 24, however, preparations start as early as February 1.
